President Prabowo, King Abdullah focus Amman talks on Palestine

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and King Abdullah II of Jordan focused their bilateral meeting at Basman Palace in Amman on developments in Palestine, including the situation in Gaza and the West Bank.

The meeting was held on Wednesday as the main agenda of President Prabowo’s visit to Jordan on February 24–25.

During the talks, President Prabowo expressed concern over escalating violence by Israeli forces against Palestinian civilians in the West Bank.

He said recent developments in the West Bank could hinder ongoing multilateral peace efforts in Gaza by countries involved in the Board of Peace, including Indonesia.

“We are deeply concerned about the incidents occurring in the West Bank, which we see as potential obstacles to our joint initiatives for Gaza,” Prabowo told King Abdullah.

The president affirmed that his administration is ready to work with Jordan to seek constructive solutions to the longstanding issues in Palestine.

“We are keen to strengthen and enhance this cooperation,” he said, adding that Indonesia will continue close coordination with the Jordanian government in anticipating future developments.

King Abdullah, for his part, expressed appreciation for Indonesia’s consistent support for the Palestinian cause.

“Mr. President holds the highest regard for the future of the Palestinian people, which is very encouraging for all of us. I understand that Mr. President is committed to building peace and stability,” he said.

The Jordanian monarch also praised Prabowo’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian people, describing it as important.

The bilateral meeting concluded Prabowo’s agenda in Amman, which also included a one-on-one discussion between the two leaders at Basman Palace.

Accompanying the president were Foreign Minister Sugiono, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

Also present were Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and several senior government and military officials.
