'Trent Alexander-Arnold has changed his tune - he would be better off staying at Liverpool'

Image
It's been a busy period for Liverpool, with the Reds having confirmed the Premier League title, lost to Chelsea , and then announced the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold. We checked in with the LFC Boston official supporter's club's Nick Sapia to get his views from the US on all the latest goings on at Anfield. There was only one place to start. Trent Alexander-Arnold is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season. Discuss... Regarding the news about Trent, first, I feel very fortunate that we got to watch him play for Liverpool. He's a truly unique, incredibly gifted player who was a crucial part of this era of Liverpool's success — one of the greatest periods in club history. From a lifestyle standpoint, I completely get it. I think every human has an innate curiosity about experiencing other cultures, and wanting to live in a city like Madrid when you've spent your entire life in one place makes a lot of sense. I'm sure many of us have felt that at som...

Man Utd ‘superstar’ Bruno Fernandes offered ‘three-year deal’ in ‘record-breaking’ Saudi move

Image
Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal have reportedly identified Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes as their ‘top target’ and have offered him a ‘three-year contract’. Fernandes signed a new deal at Man United last August and has been, by some distance, their best player this season. There was a bit of a transition period under Ruben Amorim after he replaced Erik ten Hag in November, but since the turn of the year, the 30-year-old has been absolutely superb – even if the Red Devils sit 15th in the Premier League table. He remains United’s most influential player and has worn the captain’s armband since July 2023. Amorim’s side would obviously prefer to keep their star man and skipper, but they could be tempted to sell for the right price – while Fernandes himself may be swayed by a lucrative offer, especially given his age and the uncertainty at Old Trafford. It’s unclear how eager Amorim’s side would be to part with the Portuguese international, who fits the profile of players ...

Real Madrid receive final update on chances of hiring Jurgen Klopp

Image
Real Madrid remain fully focused on hiring Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso as their next manager, a report has claimed, despite a strong admiration for Jurgen Klopp inside the Santiago Bernabeu. With current boss Carlo Ancelotti expected to be relieved of his duties this summer - talks over a move to Brazil have temporarily stalled but could still be revived - Madrid have begun their search for a new manager. Alonso has long been Madrid's dream heir to Ancelotti's post but, given the complications and cost that come with buying the Spaniard out of his current contract, some reports have claimed there has been contact with former Liverpool boss Klopp. The speculation grew to a point that his agent had to reaffirm his happiness in his current post as Red Bull's head of global soccer. That has still not stopped the speculation and it was reported earlier this week that Madrid had once again made contact with Klopp to gauge their chances of hiring him to replace Ancelotti....

Sorry, Mark Carney. America doesn’t need your workshy, defenceless country

Image
“America wants our land, our resources, our water, our country”, declared Mark Carney in his victory speech, after Canada’s general election this week delivered his Liberal Party a plurality of seats in parliament. “These are not idle threats. President Trump is trying to break us so that America can own us”, Carney continued, promising that Trump’s oft-repeated plans to absorb Canada as America’s 51st state are “never, ever going to happen”. Trump’s apparent designs on Canada, which appeared to begin with a social media post calling Carney’s predecessor Justin Trudeau “governor Trudeau”, weighed heavily on the country’s election. The Conservatives still polled their best results since the 1980s, and Carney will have to lead a minority government, but the spectacle of a foreign leader looming so decisively over the elections of a major democracy is Ruritanian to the point of comedy. Next week’s meeting between Carney and Trump at the White House could well be an awkward affair. B...

Liverpool ‘put significant offer on the table’ for Newcastle star as Romano outlines summer plans

Image
Liverpool have made a big offer to sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak after being crowned Premier League champions, according to reports. Arne Slot’s side secured their 20th English top-flight title on Sunday with a 5-1 win over Tottenham and four games to spare. With the Reds out of all other competitions, they can turn their attention to the transfer market and their search for a new striker, among other targets. Liverpool have spent relatively little money over the past couple of transfer windows with just Federico Chiesa and Giorgi Mamardashvili, with the latter heading back out on loan to Valencia, their two signings last summer. When asked about his relationship with sporting director Richard Hughes ahead of what many expect to be a busy window, Slot replied earlier this month: “That last thing is something that you say! “There’s not so many reasons to make it a busy one because we are quite well placed in the league and we have only lost in the Champions League a...

Putin's chilling 14-word demand to Zelensky as Kremlin announces three-day ceasefire

Image
On the momentous 80th anniversary of Russian Victory Day, President Vladimir Putin has declared a ceasefire, a move that comes amid escalating pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump for Moscow to cease hostilities in Ukraine. Russian state media outlets have reported that the ceasefire will commence at the stroke of midnight on May 7 and is set to conclude at the same time on May 11. "By decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, based on humanitarian considerations, during the days of the 80th anniversary of the Victory - from midnight on May 7-8 to midnight on May 10-11, the Russian side declares a ceasefire," the Kremlin proclaimed. The Kremlin further stated, "All military actions are suspended for this period," issuing a challenge to Kyiv to reciprocate. They also cautioned that they would deliver "an adequate and effective response" should Ukraine breach the ceasefire terms, reports t...

China Refuses to Do Business With Major U.S. Company Amid Tariffs

Image
Tensions between the United States and China have been high in recent weeks as a result of a trade war between the two countries. And it sounds like one major U.S. company has been impacted. Boeing Co. is one of the largest manufacturers of commercial airliners not just in the United States, but in the entire world. The company is listed on both the Fortune 500 list as well as the Fortune Global 500 list.  However, as a result of the trade war with the United States, it sounds like China is refusing to do business with the aircraft manufacturer. During an appearance on CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street” on Wednesday, Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg revealed that China has refused the delivery of a few Boeing planes that were set to be delivered to China to be used by their commercial airlines. “They have in fact stopped taking delivery of aircraft due to the tariff environment,” Ortberg said during the interview. Ortberg revealed that a few 737 Max planes that were in China and were set...
